Testimonials

“I absolutely loved working with Devon. Her explanation of Miller Voice Method was concise, easy to understand and readily applicable so I could immediately begin implementing the tools and practices she shared with me on set. Devon’s passion for voice work is palpable and working with her is incredibly informative and essential for the demands on our voices as actors. Devon observed my vocal habits in our sessions and in my self tapes and was able to help me make adjustments that have been invaluable in my work. After working together, I was given a fantastic vocal warm up and vocal health exercises that have served me tremendously. Devon is a phenomenal actor and gifted teacher and the perfect facilitator for this kind of work. I can’t recommend working with her enough!”

“Devon’s voice workshop was incredible. She starts with inviting everyone in the room to create a beautifully connected, vulnerable space shared with each other, which immediately sets a unique, warm and safe environment. She is also highly attuned to the needs and pursuits of everyone individually and the amount of support, attention and guidance you receive is amazing.

The workshop itself is in-depth, interactive, fun and original. Devon encourages you to reflect on your voice as an instrument and guides you through the intricacies of being able to use it to reach and connect with your audience on a completely different level. It was an exceptional insight and perspective to gain for me personally as I was looking to strengthen my skills of public speaking, creating video segments and conducting business negotiations and networking events. This is highly, highly recommended!”

“Devon  has such a brilliant way of providing us with a myriad of techniques and approaches that have completely changed the way I think about my acting. Her intellectual depth into active breathing, providing us with exercises and approaches, has created a beautiful garden of flowers that I, as a student, feel I can stroll through and pick which ones I believe smell the best, pick the ones that work the best for me. It has been a delight watching my fellow classmates feel the same way, watching them pick different flowers. Professor Caraway has fostered a garden of creativity through structure, patience, and dedication.”

“I feel as though I have a better understanding of why my voice is always habitually blocked/quiet, and I am aware of how to change that in the moments where I do need to project more. The warm ups we’ve learned have put me in a place of readiness and presence, and opened my throat and body to take in more air to then use more air and project more thoughtfully. In my work, I’ve noticed a much more meaningful connection to my voice and my emotion”

“Through this class, especially through breath work and grounding exercises or warmups, I started becoming more aware of those habits and unteaching myself on doing them. One big breakthrough for me was realizing how much taking attention to my breath could support the emotion I was trying to express.

Warm-ups also started to become more than just a routine. At first, I did them because I had to. But the more I engaged with them, the counts while laying in wall v, the tongue stretches, things that felt silly initially doing, I started to see how they influenced the way I showed up in scenes. My body was more open, my voice felt fuller, and I had more control in my breath without trying so hard. It’s funny how something so physical can unlock something so emotional. That helped me realize how powerful active breath can be not just for technique, but for real connection.

I’m more aware of my natural pitch and how to access resonance without forcing it. I’ve also gotten better at releasing tension and trusting my breath.”

“I did my Miller Voice Method warm-up in the waiting room and it led to a really great and free audition! I have such gratitude for Devon’s weekend workshop!”

“Devon’s class helped me see how interconnected voice and acting really are. I’ve learned that my voice isn’t just a tool, it’s a reflection of my inner state. When I’m grounded, honest, and emotionally available, my voice naturally follows. That awareness has deepened my acting process by encouraging me to listen to my body and breath rather than forcing choices. Altogether, these approaches taught me to engage with text more organically, allowing the voice and body to uncover emotional truths that analysis alone might miss.”

“My voice and breath has become more flexible, expressive, and connected to my emotional life. I’m noticing more resonance in my chest and head, depending on the moment in a scene. This variety of vocal tone has expanded my acting range. I’m also more attuned to how my breath changes in response to different emotions, and I use that awareness to guide character choices.

Before Devon’s class, I didn’t think much about how my breath and acting were related, I saw them as separate skills. Now I understand that voice is a reflection of the inner life of the character. The breath doesn’t just carry the words, it carries intention, emotion, tension, and rhythm. This shift has helped me stay more present in scenes and trust the work I’ve done.”
